Valentine’s Day just NOT your thing? Here is your guide to how your iPhone can help in the planning the perfect romantic adventure…
Article by Nadine B.
With Valentine’s day upon on us once again it’s never too early to get those romantic thoughts flowing – and what with almost everyone having some sort of smart phone to hand, why not utilise it and make Valentine’s 2013 extra special?
Here are a few iPhone apps that will make organising that perfect romantic getaway just that little bit easier…
Cheap & Cheerful?
Discounted offers and bookings aren’t everybody’s cup of tea (shocking I know) but if it is your sort of thing, apps such as ‘Groupon’ and ‘Voucher Cloud’ are absolutely perfect! Both apps allow you to book hotel stays within the UK and further afield, spa deals, theatre trips and slap up meals at posh restaurants; the choice of deals is endless, and with both sites being updated daily you are sure to find something amazing.
A Dummies Guide To…?
It might sound ridiculous, but Google Maps is a must have when planning your retreat. When you’re running around like a headless chicken trying to ensure everything falls into place, the last thing you want to do is lose your way. This app is a fool proof and fail safe way of finding your way to the restaurant or hotel you’ve (hopefully?!) booked in advance.
Roses are Red…
Poetry has always been linked to love and romance, so why not cash in on a tradition that is centuries old by adding a modern twist? By downloading one of the many poetry apps that are available for the iPhone (we recommend ‘Poetry’ or ‘The Poetry App’,) you’ll be fully prepared to serenade your lover with sweet words as the sun sets.
Home is Where the Heart Is?
It’s often said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so it may be worth giving it a try. If you decide to throw on the chef’s hat and cook up something magical then your iPhone is there to help! With apps such as ’20 minute meals – Jamie Oliver’ which has step by step picture guides and easy to follow recipes, or ‘Epicurious’ which allows for something a little more adventurous, you’ll be able to find something that caters to each individual taste.
Set the Mood…
The ‘Free Candle’ app is one of my personal favourites. As your romantic getaway is coming to an end, what could be more perfect that winding down and ending it with a romantic evening? This app allows you to recreate the atmosphere, feel and glow that is created by candle light. Obviously you don’t get the heat and smell that comes with the real article, but this winning app equips you with the next best thing.
Hopefully, armed with the above tips, you’ll be able to wrangle together something that resembles the perfect romantic getaway, and do it without any hiccups… Good Luck!
Do you have any favourite apps you’d like to add?
